Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib
Visit one of Sikhism's five takhts, where Guru Gobind Singh founded the Khalsa on Vaisakhi 1699. See the Guru's historic weapons in the sanctum, then share a meal at the langar downstairs.

Drive back to Chandigarh
Retrace NH503 and NH205 back home - about two easy hours, perfect for a quick roadside chai stop by the Sutlej bridge in Ropar.

The massive community kitchen at Kesgarh Sahib serves warm, free meals to every visitor in the Khalsa birthplace's timeless tradition.
The Ropar-Kiratpur run on NH503 is prime Punjabi dhaba territory - perfect for hot rotis, dal, and fresh sabzi.
When to go
Crisp, pleasant weather makes this prime time for touring the gurdwaras and forts.
The massive Nihang martial festival draws lakhs and is pure electricity, but roads will be packed so book way in advance.
Plains get scorching; hit the road at dawn and duck into the air-conditioned museum around midday.
Good to know
- Cover your head and dress modestly at every shrine; you can borrow scarves right at the gurdwara entrances.
- Virasat-e-Khalsa is closed on Mondays, so plan your weekend road trip around that.
