Dehradun
Doon valley base camp - Robber's Cave, Sahastradhara springs, colonial-era bakeries and forest walks, with Mussoorie an hour further up.

Tucked in the Doon Valley with the Himalayas for company, Dehradun is the perfect low-key escape. Think grand old colonial campus walks, wading through secret cave streams, steaming plates of momos, and buzzing cafes along Rajpur Road.

Good to know
- Mussoorie is just an hour up the road. If you have extra time, head up for the views, but be ready for crazy weekend traffic and zero parking.
- Autos don't use meters here, so lock in a price before you jump in. Or do it like a local and hop onto the shared blue Vikrams for cheap.
- Central Doon is actually super walkable. The main streets meet right at the Clock Tower, and you can walk to most food spots in under half an hour.
- Skip the tourist traps and buy your basmati rice and hand-knit sweaters in Paltan Bazaar. It is where the locals shop and you will get the best deals.
