Do Djiboutian passport holders need a visa for Georgia?

• Proof of the purpose of travel, accommodation, and funds for the stay.
• A return or onward booking.

How to enter Georgia from Djibouti

Check what is already in your passport first. A live EU, UK, US, Canadian or Gulf visa or residence permit lets you enter Georgia with no Georgian visa at all, for up to 90 days in any 180 — a longer and more flexible allowance than the e-visa gives.

If that does not apply, apply on the official portal at evisa.gov.ge. It is the government’s own site and the only one that issues the visa.

Expect the application to come in two parts. After the initial submission and payment you are sent a link to a separate identity verification step, which carries its own charge and a short deadline measured in hours rather than days. Missing it can void the application and the money already paid, so watch for that email rather than assuming payment finished the job.

• The application does not finish when you pay, and this is where it goes wrong. Georgia’s e-visa runs a second identity-verification step that arrives by email after submission, carries its own fee and has to be completed within a short window. Applicants who treat the payment confirmation as the end of the process discover the application has lapsed, and the first charge is not refunded. Watch your inbox, including the spam folder, in the hours after you apply.
• Djibouti is not one of the seventeen nationalities Georgia tightened in April 2025, which is worth knowing if you are reading advice written for the region. That change requires a Gulf visa or residence permit to be valid at least a year on the day of entry, and it applies to a specific list that includes Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia and Sudan but not Djibouti. A Djiboutian relying on a UAE or Saudi residence permit is on the ordinary terms, not the tightened ones — but the advice circulating for neighbouring passports says otherwise, so check which list you are actually on.
• There is no Georgian embassy in Djibouti, so anything that cannot be done online cannot be done locally. The e-visa is designed to make that irrelevant for a tourist trip, and for most visits it does. Study, work or long-stay categories are not issued through the e-visa portal, and those require dealing with whichever Georgian mission covers Djibouti rather than something you can arrange in the city.
• Georgia is outside the Schengen Area and nothing European applies at this border. No EES registration, no ETIAS, and a Schengen visa is not a substitute for a Georgian e-visa in the ordinary sense — though, as above, holding one is precisely what lets you skip the Georgian visa entirely. Those are two different statements and it is easy to collapse them into one.
