• A Tunisian passport valid at least three months beyond the validity period of the visa you are requesting, with at least two free pages, issued within the previous ten years, undamaged and free of unofficial remarks.
• An online application completed in English, since the portal accepts no other language for the form, with supporting documents in English or Georgian.
• A payment card, which does not have to be in your own name, and a working email address you will be watching.
• Health and accident insurance covering the whole stay, which you must be able to present at the border on request.

Two short clocks, one long one, and no undo

The application itself is ordinary: an online form, a photograph, the passport data page and a card payment. What is unusual is how little time each step allows. The verification email the portal sends is valid for one hour, and if you miss it the application is cancelled and you start the whole process again. Payment is then due within five hours of the notification, on the same terms.

Then the long one: the decision takes not less than five working days and can run to ten if the circumstances need further examination. That is the number to plan travel around, and it starts after the steps above have been completed successfully rather than when you first opened the form.

• There is no correction mechanism, which is rarer than it sounds and more expensive than it looks. Most visa systems let you fix a transposed digit or a misspelled name before a decision. Georgia does not: the portal says that if you realise something needs correcting after submission, you must create a new application. It is equally direct about who pays for that. Asked whether a mismatch between the visa and the passport can be refunded, its answer is that the applicant is responsible for any mistakes made in the application. Check every field twice before submitting, because there is no cheaper moment to catch an error than before you press the button.
• The fee is not refunded under any circumstance the portal describes. Not if the application is refused, not if you decide not to travel, and not if the visa turns out to be unusable because of an error you made. For a Tunisian applicant that matters more than for most, because the amount at risk is 300 US dollars rather than the 20 dollars quoted in nearly every article about Georgian e-visas. That figure is real, it just belongs to a different group of nationalities.
• Everyone travelling needs their own application, regardless of age, and the fee goes with the person rather than the party. The portal states it plainly: despite of age, each traveller must obtain a separate e-Visa, and each must provide separate documentation. For a family of four at 300 dollars each that is 1,200 dollars before the service fee, and it means several sets of one-hour and five-hour windows running at once. You are advised to name your companions in the application so the files are examined together, but they remain separate applications.
• Insurance is declared in the application and checked at the border, and those are two different things. The form asks you to confirm that you hold valid travel insurance before you can submit, but it does not take the policy from you. The check that matters happens later: the portal warns that if asked at a Georgian border crossing point you must be able to present health and accident insurance covering the whole period of your stay, and that otherwise you could be refused entry. Ticking the box is not the same as being able to produce the document, so buy the cover before you fly and carry proof you can show on the spot.
