No. Trinidad and Tobago passport holders travel to Iceland without a visa for short stays, on the same Schengen footing as Argentina, Grenada and Guatemala. The thing to check is the rest of the itinerary rather than Iceland itself: the United Kingdom imposed a visit visa requirement on Trinidad and Tobago on 12 March 2025, and a trip that treats Europe as one destination now has two different answers in it.

Because that change is recent, a great deal of advice written earlier, and a great deal of family experience, is now wrong.

Treat the two as unrelated, because they are. Schengen visa policy is set by one instrument and British visa policy by another, and a change to one carries no implication for the other. Losing access to the United Kingdom did not affect Iceland, and the reverse would be equally true.
