Tripmojo vs Kayak Trips

By Aditya RawatReviewed by Simran Raheja

Kayak Trips is the free organizer bolted onto Kayak’s search engine: it collects your bookings into one itinerary with real-time flight updates, wherever you booked.

What Kayak Trips does well

  • Genuinely free, including real-time updates on cancellations, delays and gate changes.
  • Booking consolidation works no matter where you booked, with inbox sync to pull reservations in.
  • Shared itineraries with editing permissions cover basic group coordination.

Where the organizer model stops

  • Trips exists to feed Kayak’s search business - "planning" in the Kayak universe means searching and booking flights and hotels through Kayak, not deciding what your days look like.
  • There is no day-by-day planning layer: no AI drafting, no group suggestions or voting, no expense splitting when the trip is over.
  • It is a tab inside a booking app, and it behaves like one - the organizer is the accessory, not the product.

The real difference

Kayak Trips and Tripmojo agree on one thing: organizing your bookings should be free. The difference is what the itinerary is for. For Kayak it is the receipt drawer of their booking engine; planning means searching fares. Tripmojo treats the plan as the product - the AI drafts your days, the group shapes them, bookings from Gmail fall into place, and expenses get split at the end. Same price, different center of gravity.

Where Tripmojo falls short

  • Tripmojo is new. TripIt has been parsing confirmation emails since 2006; we ship parser fixes weekly, but you will still occasionally meet a booking email we misread and have to correct by hand.
  • Automatic booking detection only works with Gmail. On Outlook or any other inbox you forward or upload bookings yourself - there is no auto-scan for non-Google email yet.
  • There is no loyalty-program tooling: Tripmojo does not track points balances, monitor fares for refund claims, or watch seat maps the way TripIt Pro does.

Try the planner side by side

Connect Gmail and your bookings assemble themselves - or forward any confirmation email. Everything is free: AI planning, shared group planning, flight alerts, expense splitting and an offline document vault.

Kayak Trips is already free - why switch to Tripmojo?

Keep Kayak for fare search - it is excellent at it. Tripmojo replaces the organizing and adds what Kayak Trips does not attempt: an AI-drafted day-by-day plan, shared group planning with suggestions and comments, expense splitting, and an offline documents vault.

Does Tripmojo track flights like Kayak Trips?

Yes - live flight status, delay and gate alerts, and check-in reminders are free in Tripmojo, alongside the planning layer Kayak Trips does not have.

How we compare

  • Kayak Trips pricing was checked against its own live pages in July 2026, not taken from a review site. Prices change; the link is there so you can check it yourself.
  • Features are compared on what each product actually ships today, from hands-on use. We do not count features against each other, because a longer list is not a better trip.
  • Tripmojo makes this comparison and benefits if you switch. Read it with that in mind, and try both.
