What Wanderlog does well
- Best-in-class road-trip and map view: routes, distances and drive times between stops.
- Solid real-time collaboration on the itinerary, on web as well as mobile.
- Has expense tracking with splitting, and Pro adds offline access and Google Maps export.
Where the organizer model stops
- The planning is manual assembly: Wanderlog gives you the corkboard and pins, but you research, choose and sequence every stop yourself. There is no planner that drafts the trip for you to react to.
- Automatic booking import (linking Gmail) is a Pro feature - on the free tier your reservations do not flow in by themselves.
- Live flight tracking and alerts are not what it is built for; mid-trip it is a viewer for the plan you made, not a copilot.
The real difference
Wanderlog is the strongest manual trip builder here, and for a road trip where the route is the point, it is genuinely great. The difference is who does the planning: Wanderlog hands you excellent tools to assemble an itinerary; Tripmojo drafts the itinerary - AI plan, group votes, Gmail bookings merged in - and you edit. If you enjoy building days pin by pin, keep Wanderlog. If you want a plan to exist before you start working on it, that is Tripmojo.
Where Tripmojo falls short
- Tripmojo is new. TripIt has been parsing confirmation emails since 2006; we ship parser fixes weekly, but you will still occasionally meet a booking email we misread and have to correct by hand.
- Automatic booking detection only works with Gmail. On Outlook or any other inbox you forward or upload bookings yourself - there is no auto-scan for non-Google email yet.
- There is no loyalty-program tooling: Tripmojo does not track points balances, monitor fares for refund claims, or watch seat maps the way TripIt Pro does.
